Sound is a missing link in the cannon of visual art. Within sound and listening, new conduits of perception and experience are opened. The works of Nancy Holt, Richard Serra, Robert Smithson, and James Turrell are fascinating examples of this. When the theory of sound and listening are applied to each, the work comes into a new, dynamic and exciting focus.

The role of the art critic is in rapid decline or, at best, fundamentally shifting. With the rise of technological advances, information access redefines global visual culture in real time. As people today, we have the tools with which to understand and evaluate art, as well as our world. This idea is fundamental in creating new diverse dialogue, meaning, relationship and understanding of our human experience.

Perception, Perspective, Place.

Is asking the question not the beginning of the answer? Come to the table; enter the dialogue. The answer is not the ending it is the next beginning: the new absolute zero. The more we peel back, remove and subtract away, the more the subtleties begin to speak. Until they themselves (have become a deafening roar) ask too, for us to reach further into the heart of their perceived oblivion: an ever-expanding circle within an ever-expanding circle within an ever-expanding circle… And in its center: no center, but another point of beginning and another nothing. Center is only a matter of perspective.
